Investment Thesis

As somebody who grew up with limited resources and invested from his pool of capital, Varun believes in the ability of money to unlock opportunities and ideas.  He believes that he has been fortunate to get an opportunity to work with some of the most innovative founders in the region as a friend, advisor, and investor.

As an operator committed to ensuring skin in the game in every investment, Varun employs multiple investment models to cater to the diverse range of investment opportunities, founders, and investors to collaborate.  Varun founded Boleh Ventures (BV), an investment holding and family office to manage the capital for private market investments.  Additionally, he set up Fintech Nation Fund (FN1) in collaboration with local VC and Fintech Nation team to operate early-stage investments and angel syndicate.

Venture Capital fund anchored by Fintech Nation Founder Varun Mittal and supported by fund management team from a leading South East Asian Venture Capital Firm. Fintech Nation Fund (FNF) invests in early-stage South East Asian Fintech and embedded finance companies at an early stage, typically sub-10M valuations with a sub-2% ownership stake, no board seat, pro rata rights and, at most, board observer roles. As an open-ended fund, it is committed to giving founders a long-term commitment and execution focus.

Boleh Ventures (BV) invests the family capital of Varun Mittal, which is managed in-house through multiple Investment Holdings entities. It primarily invests directly startups in startups in Asia at Seed, Series A, and as a Limited Partner (LP) to the emerging managers. BV leverages this as an entry point to build its understanding and network into aspiration areas. BV has 6 exits with 2.5X MOIC and existing positions in category leaders like Aspire, Endowus, Sleek, Bibit, Flip, Triple-A, and TymeBank across the digital bank, payments, and wealth domains.
